Second Recent Poll Confirms Mary Norwood’s Strong Lead in Mayoral Race

ATLANTA, GA…Mary Norwood continues to dominate the field of mayoral candidates according to poll conducted for the campaign by SDR Consulting, Inc. These results further confirm her standing as reported by WXIA Channel 11 in their poll released last week. Among the eight leading candidates, 30% of likely voters said they would vote for Norwood if the election was held today. That number is 18% ahead of her closest rival. These strong poll results further confirm Councilwoman Norwood’s consistently strong momentum in the crowded field of 17 other candidates.
Norwood is first among Democrats, Independents and Republicans. She maintains a 5% lead among African American voters with 20% supporting her. She has 41% support among non-Latino white voters. Similarly, 32% of men and 28% of women surveyed support her, as do a majority of likely voters age 35 and older.
Mary Norwood has a 59% favorability rating among likely voters with a lead over her nearest opponent of 10% and 16% ahead of the next strongest candidate. She has the strongest name recognition of all candidates in the race. Overall, Mary Norwood has strong city-wide support in almost every demographic included in the survey.
The poll was conducted by SDR Consulting, Inc. from July 20th to July 22nd of registered voters likely to vote in the November 7th mayoral general election. Sample size was 500 with a +/- 4.4% margin of error. The telephone survey used a random sample of registered voters within the City of Atlanta .
