ATLANTA, GA…In just nine months, Mary Norwood has raised over $1,000,000 in contributions for her Mayoral campaign and has cash on-hand of more than $650,000.  The leading candidate in the 2017 race for Mayor of Atlanta continues to generate robust financial support from voters in every council district in the city. For the period ending June 30, donors gave her campaign over $330,000.

This third strong financial report adds powerful momentum to Norwood’s efforts to dominate the race to become Atlanta’s next Mayor and the second woman to hold the post.

Mary Norwood supporters represent a wide cross section of diverse Atlanta voters, providing undeniable evidence of her potent city-wide grass roots appeal: 85% of her contributors reside in neighborhoods in every sector of the city and 94% of her donations have come from individuals. 94.4% of donations are from the 10-county metro region and 97% of Norwood’s donations are from within the state of Georgia.

Campaign Manager Erika Barnes-Ford says these numbers undergird Norwood’s campaign to be the Mayor that makes City Hall work for everyone.  “We are proud and excited about the incredible outpouring of support for Mary’s campaign. She has proven her viability by raising more than a million dollars during this process.  Donors are saying it is time to elect a mayor who really listens and understands Atlanta’s future belongs to all of us.”

The media also recognizes that Norwood is broadly capable. She was recently named as one of Atlanta’s most powerful and influential individuals in government and business according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.  Norwood is on the 2017 Power 100 annual list of Atlanta’s 100 most influential people of 2017, as selected by the Chronicle’s editors, and one of only 18 women so designated. The list highlights individuals that are known for making positive things happen for the City, including titans of Atlanta industry, public officials wielding political clout, and individuals leading civic institutions and highly effective non-profits.

Mary Norwood’s experience spans all three categories and she is renowned for transforming ideas into action. 30+ years of success in the media business, Atlanta community organizations and the local political arena have honed her ability to bring critical thinking and leadership to difficult issues.

Norwood is often seen in multiple parts of the city on the same day, crisscrossing Atlanta to meet with constituents and attend to issues first hand. To keep her in close touch with voters, two campaign offices are open and operating:  South HQ: 2636 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and North HQ:  102 West Paces Ferry Road.

“The significant grassroots support I have from voters in every part of our city is extraordinary and I am extremely grateful,” Norwood said. “This new wave of contributions is a compelling indicator that Atlanta citizens want me to bring transparency to City Hall and transportation solutions and prosperity to all Atlantans.” Volunteers from more than 75% of Atlanta neighborhoods are active with her campaign.  Norwood’s support underscores her city-wide reputation for having done the work to be out in front of major issues and get things accomplished.   “Voters trust me to tackle the issues they care about and to do what I say I will do. As Mayor, that’s what I’ll do for the future of our great city.”
